Ever since I was a child, I have had a keen interest in space and space exploration. The big questions about how the universe works and its mysteries have guided my entire life. Growing up, I pursued a scientific and technical career, specialising in aerospace engineering. In it, I found my way to what interests me most: access to space and the subsequent evolution of our species.
During the course of my studies, I always worked in restaurants as a waiter to pay my tuition fees and whatever else I needed. Thanks to this, I have developed skills in working in a team, both from a collaborative point of view and in managing work and coordinating with my colleagues. As a working student, I have also learnt how to balance my time and work hard to achieve my goals.
When choosing my Master's degree course, I chose the "space missions" curriculum among the various courses available, thus studying both the purely technical part such as the architecture of a spacecraft, the design of interplanetary trajectories, electronics and the interface with a launch vehicle, but also the conceptual part of an entire mission design process.
As soon as I had the chance, I gained experience in aerospace research through two internships at the "Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare" INFN-LNF (National Institute of Nuclear Physics). In the first experience, aimed at the achievement of the three-year thesis, I studied the LIDAR technology integrated on the ICESAT and ISESAT-2 spacecrafts, with particular attention to the architecture and operation of the probe with a look at the basic physics. In the second experience, I worked for 6 months on the ESA MOONLIGHT project, in particular on the mechanical qualification process of one of the motors present in the spacecraft, using a L1024M-PA115 Vibration Test System. In this last experience it was also necessary to design an interface plate between the test item and the shaker, modelled by me using the finite element software ANSYS.
I consider myself as a dedicated person, open to new experiences and, although lacking of working experience in aerospace engineering, ready to study and give my all to the activity.
