ABB Robotics develops and produces industrial robots with factories I Sweden, USA and China and global development centers in Norway, Sweden, China and India. The Research and Development center for Paint robots is localized in Bryne, Norway, and has the main responsibility for development and maintenance of paint robots and process equipment.

The Research and Development center in Bryne represent a unique multidisciplinary environment for development of advanced mechatronic. We are 45 persons working in R&D with software, electronics and mechanics. In this position you will be part of the embedded software team in R&D. This team is responsible for the robot backend software (control systems, real-time etc.) The team is part of a global agile development environment. In addition to work with your teammates you will also cooperate closely with engineers from other disciplines like electronics/firmware design and mechanical design. We encourage both seniors and newly educated to apply for the position.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and develop new products
  • Follow the product from idea through construction and testing to completed product
  • Maintenance of existing products
  • Collaborate in a dedicated and multi-discipline environment, and benefit from internal and external network, this may also include our end customers

Your background

  • Software design for industrial systems in general
  • Embedded system design
  • Control theory, hard real-time or hardware-close programming
  • Continuous integration, deployment design or software architecture and topology
  • Industrial communication protocols like OPC-UA, MQTT, EtherCAT, EthernetIP etc.
    AI/ML
  • Cyber security or Functional Safety software
  • Development mainly in C/C++, Python and C#
  • Good writing and oral wording ability in Norwegian and English or only English with ambitions to learn to use both languages
