Located in Durango, CO, AGILE Space Industries designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.
AGILE is seeking a Director of Manufacturing to be responsible for leading our manufacturing engineering and factory operations team.  This key position will be the genesis for the future of AGILE Production Processes, building a world class manufacturing facility from inception. 

The Manufacturing Director will be a key member of AGILE’s Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborating with the Chief Technical Officer. This role will have a broad accountability and impact during the upcoming high growth stage on our path to becoming the industry leader in delivering in-space propulsion systems.

Job Details:

  • Lead a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians dedicated to the production in in-space propulsion systems
  • Responsible for standing up AGILE’s new Manufacturing Center
  • Embedding a culture of safety within the new Manufacturing Operations
  • Establish operating procedures focused on lean techniques, data driven processes, and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for receipt, inspection, & inventory of parts and equipment required for the production of propulsion systems
  • Responsible for driving quality processes and mindset into all aspects of AGILE’s manufacturing operations


  • B.S. or advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent
  • US Citizen or US Person, capable of receiving a US Secret Clearance
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience, with aerospace manufacturing preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing leadership experience in the aerospace industry

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in factory layout, manpower planning, and facility setup
  • Focused on the elimination of waste through Lean methodologies across all manufacturing activities
  • Able to make systemic manufacturing process improvements on existing programs in a disciplined yet expeditious way
  • Driven by a focus on a proactive safety culture
  • Experience in identifying and measuring appropriate quality metrics that are actionable by the team to actively improve our systems
  • Previous use of 6 sigma techniques including 5 whys, fish bone diagrams, etc
  • Experience in establishing and growing production capabilities to meet the needs of customers with diverse quality, cost, and schedule needs
  • Proven track record in recruiting, hiring, and rapidly growing a team
  • Experience with working with and improving manufacturing shop floor control, MRP, or ERP software
  • Experience with setting up and improving supply chain systems for accurate accounting of production parts and responding to supply chain disruptions
  • Understanding of manufacturing to meet complex design requirements including Geometric
  • Dimensioning and Tolerancing and propulsion performance requirements
  • Self-starter and positive contributor that is willing to assist with any tasking required to get the factory running effectively.
  • Understanding of modern inspection techniques and able to make suggestions to meet future needs
  • Experience with evaluating results from in-process manufacturing tests and making recommendations to improve design for manufacturability
  • Able to assess and communicate Manufacturing Readiness Level to upper management and customers
  • Emotionally intelligent leader that can manage performance, personnel, and quality crises
  • Personal emphasis on ensuring team harmony through utilizing the appropriate leadership style for the situation
  • Familiarity with Additive Manufacturing and the requirements for operating Alloy 3D Printers
