Located in Durango, CO, AGILE Space Industries designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.


AGILE is seeking a Propulsion Combustion Analyst who will guide the iterative progression from prototype through the delivery of a flight set of mission-optimized thrusters in under 24 months’ time. This role has continued involvement throughout the iterative design-manufacture-test-analyze process over the entirety of the maturation of the rocket engine; from creating conceptual analysis models to verification and validation of hot-fire test data that will ensure a fully funded space mission is a success. You will be a key member of the program team, working closely with the cross-functional group that is designing, manufacturing, and testing leading analysis and guiding the test program in order to ensure critical insights are fed forward into each design iteration cycle. We are seeking an experienced propulsion analyst that is proficient in building and running combustion and other analytical models.

Job Details:

  • Responsible for leading the engine performance analyses for AGILE’s new engine development programs
  • Perform structural, thermal, and CFD analysis of AGILE thrusters, components, and propulsion systems using ANSYS and other software tools
  • Perform steady-state and transient CFD analysis using ideal and real-fluid equations of state
  • Correlate and couple analysis models with real test data
  • Create detailed documentation of analysis methods and results
  • Plan engine hot-fire test campaigns and guide execution with real-time data analysis
  • Interpret test data to understand and report thruster performance
  • Provide actionable feedback to the team to iteratively improve designs
  • Create detailed documentation of test results and measurement uncertainty
  • Engage with test team in instrumentation and hot-fire test operation
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve process and meet program objectives
  • Practice critical problem solving, task prioritization, and thorough analysis


  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
  • Significant experience modeling and analyzing data from combustion devices or supersonic fluid systems
  • Proficient in performing multidisciplinary analysis in ANSYS or equivalent design software
  • Experience in the design, analysis, and test of liquid rocket engines
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in team environments
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a high cadence environment
  • Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced degree in an analytical and related field
  • Experience leading analyses for hypergolic chemical propulsion technologies
  • Expert level proficiency in ANSYS
  • Experience managing large test datasets
  • Experience working with or around toxic / hazardous propellants
  • Experience in modelling of advanced materials and additively manufactured materials
  • Experience in scripting software tools, macros, and computational models
