Located in Durango, CO, AGILE Space Industries designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

Description:

AGILE is seeking a Propulsion Design Engineer who will be part of a project team delivering a flight set of mission-optimized thrusters starting from prototype designs in under 24 months’ time. This role has continued involvement throughout the iterative design-manufacture-test-analyze process over the entirety of the maturation of the rocket engine; from the first early learning prototypes hot-fired to the flight hardware that will enable a fully funded space mission to fly. You will be a key member of the program team, working closely with the cross-functional group that is designing, manufacturing, testing, and analyzing this thruster in order to feed forward actionable insights into each design iteration cycle to ensure that the flight program objectives are met. We are seeking an engineer who is highly proficient with digital design and analytical modeling tools.

Job Details:

  • Responsible for completing critical design and engineering activities for AGILE’s new engine development programs
  • This individual will innovate key areas for AGILE engine technologies by working across the design, analysis, development, and testing operations program phases
  • Primarily responsible for performing detailed engine design and analysis activities
  • Actively engage with program and engineering leadership to advance program objectives
  • Practice critical problem solving, task prioritization, and thorough analysis
  • Iterate engine/feature designs using simulated and real-world test data
  • Develop design materials and reports for AGILE customer engagements

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in team environments
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a high cadence environment
  • Proficient with CAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks, or other design and analysis software
  • Multi-disciplined engineer confident working through ambiguity and uncertainty across complex assignments
  • Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience leading the end-to-end design and production of propulsion systems
  • Proficiency in ANSYS
  • Experience developing and working with chemical propulsion systems
  • Experience working with or around toxic / hazardous propellants
  • Experience in designing for advanced materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience in scripting software tools, macros, and computational models

Work Schedule: 5 day/45hr Work Week
