Located in Durango, CO, AGILE Space Industries designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. Description: 

AGILE is seeking a Senior Propulsion Test Engineer who will be a key member of a project team delivering a flight set of mission-optimized thrusters starting from prototype designs in under 24 months’ time. This role will lead the development, assembly, and testing of assorted program hardware across the maturation of the rocket engine; from the first early learning prototypes hot-fired to the flight hardware that will enable a fully funded space mission to fly. You will be a key member of the program team, working closely with the cross-functional group that is designing, manufacturing, testing, and analyzing this thruster in order to feed forward manufacturability and test insights into each design iteration cycle to ensure that the flight program objectives are met. We are seeking an experienced engineer who is highly proficient with the assembly and testing of engines, test stands, and their peripheral test equipment and

Job Details:

  • Lead the preparation of test activities and assembly of propulsion hardware for AGILE’s new engine development program
  • Lead hardware preparation for and participate in thruster hot-fire test operations
  • Provide expertise for managing the fabrication, maintenance, and upgrade of critical test equipment
  • Lead procedures for carrying out hazardous material handling and decontamination
  • Assembly and inspection of propulsion systems, thrusters, and test stands
  • Instrumentation calibration, inspection, and installation
  • Comply with and constantly seek to improve standard process documentation
  • Understand complex test facility systems
  • Design, document, and/or implement test stand improvements and maintenance
  • Coordinate with design team to ensure solutions meet the requirements for testing
  • Support in conducting hot-fire test campaigns

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in team environments
  • Strong dedication to test personnel and public safety
  • Seeks to constantly improve and optimize processes
  • High attention to detail with hardware processing and hardware safety
  • Comfort performing hazardous operations with appropriate PPE and training
  • Experience working on propulsion technologies and high-pressure systems
  • General physical fitness and dexterity, comfort in tight spaces, able to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a high cadence environment
  • Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on test facility experience (hydraulic, pneumatic, or supersonic systems)
  • Hands-on work with testing and data acquisition
  • Propulsion test facility build, maintenance, and operations experience
  • Experience working with or around with hazardous chemicals such as hydrazine and NTO
