MOVING DATA FROM IMAGING SATELLITES IN SPACE BACK TO THE GROUND

Analytical Space, Inc. is a venture-backed startup developing a network of small satellites that use a combination of RF and laser communication to provide global data relay services. The network will connect remote sensing satellites when they would otherwise be idle, such as over the ocean, enabling greater data throughput and lower latency.

The company is based out of MIT’s “The Engine,” a home for Tough Tech founders building the next generation of world-changing companies in Cambridge.  We are recruiting people with cutting-edge minds that thrive in a fast-paced startup environment to work with us to deploy a constellation of satellites that enables a real-time view of our planet.

  • Implement and operate satellite software for GNC activities.
  • Design, build, and test flight algorithms/controls for small satellites and cubesats.
  • Aid in spacecraft system design including scenario simulation and pointing budgets for RF and Optical systems.
  • Work with systems engineers and vendors to bring GNC components from procurement to operation.
  • Validation and verification through software simulation, Monte Carlo analysis, and hardware in the loop (HWIL) and software in the loop (SWIL) testing.
  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering (or a comparable background knowledge).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in designing, modeling, testing, and flying aerospace guidance, navigation, and control systems.
  • Adept in 6-DOF concepts, rigid/flexible body dynamics, orbital mechanics, and general physics.
  • Strong software and model development skills, particularly in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) working knowledge
  • Experience with systems programming languages such as C, C++ or Python.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques (e.g., extended Kalman filters).
  • Experienced in agile software development process.

Bonus

  • Experience with spacecraft propulsion systems and concepts.
  • Experience in full-body satellite simulation.
  • Experience with STK.
