Apogee is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer located at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), FL in support of Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Fixed Wing (PEO-FW). What you will be doing:

  • Oversees contractor engineering execution relating to development, aircraft integration, and fielding of an aircraft multi-mode radar system on SOF aircraft.
  • Monitors feedback on radar operational performance and failure data; compares that information to anticipated performance to identify defects requiring corrective action.
  • Researches, develops, tests, and evaluates the procurement and production of flight-critical systems; provides technical consultation involving applicable test engineering technology;  determines test requirements and overall objects; prepares test plans to meet the requirement of the project.
  • Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
  • Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, and projects.
  • Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval.
  • Supports budget control directly facilitating the engineering effort. Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
  • Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
    Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
  • Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy of vendor engineering processes.
  • Reviews engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Provides expert level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
  • Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
  • Conducts system engineering acquisition activities to include TEMP, SEP, SAMP development, PDR, CDR, PCA, FCA, FMECA evaluation, and configuration management.
  • Oversees contractor test planning, execution, and post-test data analysis for completeness and meeting contract requirements.
  • Reviews and interprets design concepts; evaluates complex design information and assesses for relevance in the operational environment
  • Interprets, selects, and applies a variety of engineering principles and guidelines to analyze, investigate, and delineate specifics of the problem encountered and devises ways to meeting engineering requirements.
  • Plans, develops, and implement procedures for review of acquisition programs and military engineering programs; directs engineering sufficiency review of those programs.

What you will need to have:

  • Clearance Required: TS clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline combined with 8+ years of experience in oversight and execution of engineering efforts associated with development/fielding of safety-critical military systems, or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • DAWIA Level II (Practitioner) Certification Equivalency in the Engineering and Technology
  • Management or Test & Evaluation functional areas
  • Desired reliability testing/modeling of aircraft systems experience
  • Proficiency MS Office Suite software and project management/scheduling techniques and tools such as MS Project.
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition Framework.
  • Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and policies of professional engineering program management to include program planning and budget cycles, and financial control/budgeting systems.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design and correction of repair procedures.
  • Working knowledge of multi-disciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of contracting principles, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as applied to program management.
