We strive to deliver routine access to earth orbit for enterprises launching services powered by small satellites. Building on over a decade of technology development in rocket propulsion, structures, and avionics, we are applying an agile approach to space launch.

Our headquarters in Alameda, between San Francisco and Oakland, is a sprawling campus supporting full cycle rocket production (e.g. design, manufacturing, test) and mission control. Come thrive at Astra!

The Team

Customers, policymakers and external stakeholders are central to Astra’s success. Our goal is to achieve Daily Space Delivery and the Business Operations team works with all of external partners to ensure we meet that goal by delivering a delightful customer experience, collaborating with government stakeholders on future policy, working with local government on future expansion plans, acquiring launch sites across the globe and connecting with the public to bring everyone along our journey.

The Opportunity

As a Vice President of Sales, you will be responsible for building and leading a sales team and strategy for both government and commercial customers, including:

(1) Government: Department of Defense, NASA, NOAA, the intelligence community,

(2) Commercial: mega constellations, earth observation, IoT,

You will draw on extensive knowledge of Sales to forge relationships with senior executives at commercial companies and senior government officials. You have a reputation for being extraordinary at sales, client/account management, organization, recruiting, strategy and team management. Your team will help make daily access to space routine, for the first time on the planet.

You will truly enjoy what you do, be flexible and communicative. This role will report to the Executive Vice President, Business Operations with extensive cross-functional interaction to drive strategies down to execution while keeping up the pace of Astra. This is you!

How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission 

  • Recruit, lead and manage a sales team
  • Develop a comprehensive sales strategy for both government and commercial customers
  • Leverage your extensive experience and network in your prior US government roles to connect, qualify and close government contracts
  • Partner with Product to design future mission programs based on intelligence and requirements gathered from customers
  • Partner with Mission Management to ensure continued customer success and the identification of
  • Conducts competitive analysis  by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques

Desired Multipliers 

  • 12+ of sales leadership experience with a demonstrated track record
  • 3+ years of experience working with or on space acquisition programs and/or conducting space operations
  • Deep connections across the space industry
