Position Summary

With the Spacecraft Test team, you will join a creative and enthusiastic group, applying your experience to assure mission success.
Your primary role will be to support requirements verification of satellite missions. This involves working with customers, design and system engineers, and project managers to understand and specify requirements as well as: carrying out, revising, and writing test plans and procedures; presenting results and feedback to the larger team; and creating new hardware, processes, and software to improve production flow and quality.
A Senior Spacecraft Test Engineer has been instrumental in multiple spacecraft test campaigns. They possess experience designing and hands-on time running spacecraft EMI-EMC, TVAC, and Vibe tests. From this experience, and a familiarity with standards such as GEVS, they know what to expect planning for these tests. In the lab, they can survey a test setup and quickly assess safety and efficiency. They have facilitated fault investigations and reporting. Comfortable with spacecraft systems, they know where to start looking for information. Reviewing, updating, and writing procedures, managing test flow, guiding debug efforts, and running functional and performance tests on space flight hardware are all well-known tasks. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and execute test plans for spacecraft components at all levels of integration, including fully assembled Flight Models
  • Analyze and present feedback on both the process and results to larger teams
  • Flow observations to management and engineering teams to support proposal work and inform future designs
  • Ensure test plans and procedures meet system requirements and evolving mission characteristics
  • Develop and operate test automation hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot anomalous test results, identify, and help track defects
  • Apply diligence to promote production efficiency, mission objectives, and above all, hardware, and personnel safety
  • Continually seek out ways to improve
Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years spacecraft test experience at the vehicle level, including environmental tests
  • B.S. or M.S. in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software), math, physics, or related field
  • High proficiency executing, reading, reviewing, and writing detailed procedures
  • Proficiency with lab electrical diagnostic and measurement tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, sources, spectrum analyzers)
  • Ability to understand and follow spacecraft system documentation
  • Familiarity with Linux command-line and object-oriented software such as Python
  • Skill technical problem solving between parties with differing levels of information
  • Desire to solve problems collaboratively
  • Interest working with a first-rate, collegial team

Additional Qualifications

  • Familiarity with mission assurance
  • Experience in automotive industry or mass production
  • Experience in electrical or software design
  • Proficiency with the Linux command-line and Python
