Job Overview

We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to work in our in-house engineering team ATG EngineeringLab, mostly within the space industry, as well as in other high-tech industries. The position is for our ATG HQ located in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Generate, review and/or negotiate requirements / specifications;
  • Generate and/or review Design, Development and Verification Plans;
  • Conceptual and Detailed design of Thermal Control Systems;
  • Modeling and analysis of Spacecraft and other high-tech systems;
  • Optimize Spacecraft and other high-tech Thermal Control Systems;
  • Define testing plans and procedures;
  • Participate in Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing of total systems, as the responsible
  • Thermal Engineer;
  • Model correlation in relation to test data;
  • Document the work, present and justify the work in reviews;
  • Direct interfacing with customers on technical level and participation in program level communication;
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control tasks in the team;
  • Supervise / coordinate of junior colleagues / interns;
  • Participate and actively contribute to team and company development; e.g. generating/supporting novel technical ideas/innovations, new processes/methods, new ways of work and positive work culture.


  • Completed MSc level education in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • Experience with ESATAN-TMS (transitioning from a similar software can be discussed);
  • Experience with a CAD software;
  • Experience with FEM software is a strong bonus;
  • Experience in structural engineering and the multi-disciplinary domain of Thermo-Elastics is a strong bonus;
  • Broad knowledge and experience of how to develop and realize typical and more novel Spacecraft
  • Thermal Control solutions;
  • Motivation to work in the space sector as well as other high-tech sectors;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Fluent command of the English language;
  • Good command of the Dutch language is a bonus;
  • Excellent work structuring, organization and coordination skills;
  • Personal drive to excellence;
  • Team-player mindset; knowing when to ask or give help, wanting to win as a collective;
  • A rudimentary sense of humor, and ability and interest to work pragmatically are essential traits;
  • Able to work at company HQ in Noordwijk NL (we offer a hybrid working scenario, with several days/week in the office, and several days/week at home);
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
