DCI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axient Corporation LLC is seeking an aerospace structural analyst to support current and future development programs with NASA and commercial companies. This position may be eligible for a Hybrid work schedule, part of employees work schedule will be required to be on-site at DCI/Axient facilities in Huntsville, AL. 

DCI is primarily focused on supporting NASA and commercial space companies. DCI was a key team member supporting Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in the development of the Space Launch System (SLS) resulting in the successful launch of the Artemis 1 in November 2022.

We also support Dynetics in the develop and manufacture the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) for the Block 1B variant of SLS.

Dynamic Concepts, LLC is an Axient Subsidiary specializing in engineering and software services for government (NASA and DoD) and commercial applications.

We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team supporting the development of the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) for the Space Launch System (SLS) Block 1B rocket. 

Regular tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Constructing finite element models from CAD or drawings using FEMAP
  • Linear and Non-linear FEM analysis using NASTRAN
  • Performing structural analysis of aerospace composite and metallic components
  • Generating detailed analysis reports and presenting/communicating those results with the customer
  • Performing fatigue, fracture and damage tolerance analysis using tools like NASGRO/NASFLA

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in modeling and analysis of aerospace structures, or a combination of experience and advanced degrees (MS, PhD)
  • Resident of the greater Huntsville area in north Alabama or willing to relocate
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time
  • Candidate must be a US citizen

Desired Skills

  • Experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN or other industry standard modeling and analysis toolsets
  • Familiarity with NASA and/or commercial spaceflight programs and requirements
  • Experience with Matlab, Python or other programming language to support creation of inhouse tools and scripts
  • Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and the customer
