Summary:  This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas where the Guidance, Navigation & Control Simulation Engineer will work in a collaborative engineering team environment of design and analysis support for guidance, navigation and control for space vehicles.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce GNC systems for a commercial human spaceflight module
  • Responsible for design, development, testing, certification, and operation of human-rated commercial spacecraft GNC system
  • Specifically, responsible for developing 6DOF physics-based simulation of spacecraft dynamics and GN&C software.
  • Perform simulation analysis of GN&C operations including on-orbit maneuvers, translations, and orbital rendezvous and proximity operations
  • Develop simulations with capability to incorporate flight software and hardware in the loop
  • Perform trade studies for technical solutions
  • Support development of guidance algorithms, navigation algorithms and other GN&C design elements

Education & Experience: 

  • B.S. in Engineering, Math or Science required (graduate degree a plus) with 15+ years of related engineering experience
  • Experience with simulation and modeling with GN&C development that may include…6DOF Trajectory Design, Monte Carlo analysis, Phase controllers, PID controllers, IMU/S, GPS, Star Trackers, Optical navigation, Guidance techniques, Relative Navigation techniques, C++ Programing, Trick, Chronos simulation, and integrated performance analysis

Skills: 

  • Demonstrable mastery/success designing, developing, testing, and verifying 6DOF flight simulations
  • Demonstrated experience with real-time simulation, including simulations running flight software or flight hardware in the loop
  • Oral and written communication skills
