As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will specify, develop, and qualify Joining Processes (including laser and EB welding, manual welds, and brazing operations) for Blue Origin’s Engines. You will work with design engineers, as well as manufacturing engineers and operators to build our propulsion systems, for various spaceflight systems. We seek people who are passionate about space and possess a strong desire to continuously learn and improve. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


  • Support welding production operations and welders including manual, arc, laser welding, EB welding, cladding, and brazing processes
  • Participate in the specification, qualification, and acceptance testing of new welding systems
  • Streamline and improve production rates on welding processes
  • Review NDT results from processed hardware and disposition nonconformances
  • Conceive-of, develop and implement in-process inspection technologies
  • Troubleshoot and operate equipment, as required
  • Travel required for training and other support activities
  • Perform metallographic and mechanical testing of welds and weld samples
  • Support design engineers with laser processing and material properties


  • Recruiting candidates from entry-level through deeply-seasoned/SME
  • B.S. degree or higher in materials, welding engineering or relevant field
  • Thorough understanding of laser welding, EB welding, brazing, and manual processes, as well as material selection
  • Experience evaluating materials characterization data and NDT results
  • Hands-on experience with metallographic analysis and mechanical testing of welds
  • Hands-on machining/welding experience
  • General proficiency with CAD
  • Experience interpreting and reviewing engineering drawings for welded assemblies
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum


  • Advanced degree in Weld Engineering
  • Direct experience in laser welding/cladding
  • Direct experience with EB welding
  • Direct experience with brazing processes
  • Demonstrated signature authority on aerospace weldment drawings for flight programs
  • Experience with integration/configuration of ancillary support equipment to existing systems (mechanical/electrical)
  • Programming/operation of CNC/Robotic systems
