Boeing Commercial Airplanes Supplier Quality team is seeking a Supplier Quality Specialist. This position is to lead audits and assessments of complex supplier’s systems, processes and products. Documents and reports audit and assessment results. Provides education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives. Develops training materials and other resources to support improvements in supplier performance and productivity.

This position is based in Nagoya, Japan and will be hired on a 1 year fixed term contract with possibility to convert to an open ended contract, subject to business conditions and individual performance.

Position Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary work location is at a supplier’s facility.
  • Under general supervision, plans, organizes and leads audits and assessments of supplier’s systems, processes and products.
  • Documents and reports key supplier metrics, audit and assessment results to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provides supplier education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives.
  • Evaluate and develop improvement plans for key suppliers.
  • Resolves routine issues and concerns.
  • Performs follow-up on audit and assessment findings.
  • Inspects or verifies products for compliance with requirements and documents findings.
  • Ensures supplier notifications of quality escapes are processed.
  • Assists with assessments of supplier capability and capacity to perform current or potential future work.
  • Provides technical expertise on specific manufacturing processes to suppliers.
  • Investigates and resolves routine issues to ensure supplier compliance to established requirements.
  • Monitors quality, delivery, work in process, systemic issues and program impacts to determine needed corrective actions and improvements to supplier performance.
  • Interprets routine requirements and resolves supplier issues and concerns.
  • Leads preventive activities as well as corrective action activities with suppliers to address the root cause of quality escapes.
  • Drive the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with suppliers to sift quality approach from detection to prevention.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • 10 or more years’ related work experience
  • Fluent in English in spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering Degrees preferred
  • Quality Systems/Standards: Knowledge of the quality system (e.g., Boeing Quality Management System (BQMS), International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001), Aerospace Standard (AS9100), Requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process (AS9145).

Typical Education / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
