Role Overview

We are seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to join the Boom Flight Sciences team. You will be collaborating with various Boom Engineering team members to refine existing configurations and innovate to develop Boom’s future aircraft family members. Responsibilities will include comparing wind tunnel test results to analytical predictions, sizing control surfaces, developing flight simulation models, and predicting handling qualities.

  • A typical day at work would be
  • Analysis and control surface sizing
  • Analyzing wind tunnel test data and CFD data to build a simulation model
  • Incorporating control laws in the simulation model
  • Analyze flying qualities to confirm the airplane meets Part 25 Subpart B requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering with 10 or more years of experience in aerospace or an equivalent combination of technical education and aerospace experience
  • Solid foundations in aerodynamics and flight dynamics
  • Previous experience in building aerodynamic database and six DOF models
  • Advanced computer programming skills, with solid experience in Matlab / Simulink
  • Experience with control law design and implementation
  • Knowledge of Part 25 Subpart B regulations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset

Nice to have

  • Advanced Engineering Degree
  • Experience in commercial aircraft flight test
  • Experience communicating complex technical results to a wide audience
