Callisto can provide technical consultancy services in subjects related to SATCOMS and satellite ground station projects including:

  • Telecommunications link analysis
  • Space project mission analyses
  • Feasibility studies and budgetary planning studies
  • Ground station configuration analysis
  • Preparation of ground station specifications
  • Equipment market surveys and equipment specification/selection
  • Ground station project support in planning and project monitoring
  • System, subsystem, equipment acceptance testing
  • System upgrade and modification studies

For our client we are searching for a Ground Station Engineer.

Working as a Ground Station Engineer in the provision of engineering services to contribute to the maintenance and evolution of the operational and future Ground Stations systems of an important European satellite operator in Germany.

The main tasks of the service are as follows:

  • Routine (non-routine) service to maintenance activities;
  • Contribution to the investigations linked to the anomalies both with internal and external industrial partners;
  • Contribution to the engineering tasks linked to the evolution of operational Ground Stations;
  • Contribution to Operations during the operational validation phases.

Required experience and skills:

  • University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English
  • Proven experience in the ground stations systems and subsystems engineering (TT&C and Mission Data Acquisition)

In addition, you shall  have significant knowledge in some (if not all) the following areas:

  • Ground Stations requirements engineering cycle (including DOORS)
  • Technical follow-up of upgrades or evolutions of operations ground stations including IV&V
  • In Orbit Test (IOT) systems
  • Diagnosis, debugging and technical assessment of ground stations hardware and software failures
  • Configuration and testing of all TT&C and Payload data reception Ground Stations related systems (e.g. LNA, F&T, Frequency converters, SSPA, TLTs, RF switches, antenna modulators/demodulator, tracking systems, ACU, etc)
  • Ground Stations M&C systems (preferably based on Dataminer)
  • Ground Stations payload data processing SW applications (e.g. data consolidators, demultiplexers, data integrity systems, etc…)
  • CCSDS Space Link Extension configuration and debugging
  • Conversant with CCSDS and/or ECSS standards
  • Conversant with configuration management of hardware and software systems
  • Space to Ground and Ground to Space Link budget analysis
  • Linux/Windows operating systems
  • TCP/IP, SNMP, serial based communication protocols
  • C++ and Java programming languages and XML
  • Long-term maintainability of ground stations software applications
