What is the Graduate Class Space?
In the Graduate Class Space you will follow a 8 week training program with the objective to prepare you for a great start in our Space team.
The Graduate Class consists of a series of training modules, study days and a case study. The case study will provide you with the opportunity to put what has been learned into practice. Training module topics to be offered during the Graduate Class will be a mix of Software Engineering, Space Engineering and Soft Skills, with focus on the lifecycle of space IT systems, agile/scrum, security and JAVA. The combination of the various topics will provide you with all the skills and knowledge of a starting IT consultant in the Space Industry.
What do you bring?
The Space Graduate Class will be hard work, but as a result your learning curve will be steep! As a minimum requirement, you have (recently completed a technical Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO or WO) in, for example, Computer Science, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering or a science education with a strong IT component. Furthermore you:
- Are eager to learn and a go-getter
- Have excellent command of the English language (Dutch is a plus but not mandatory)
- Hold a passport of one of the EU countries
What can you expect after successfully completing the Graduate Class?
After completing the Space Graduate Class you will join one of our space projects, in a role that suits your skills and preferences, as:
- Software Developer,
- Infrastructure/Network Engineer,
- Security Engineer, or
- Assembly, Integration and Verification Engineer (AIV)
Where you will be working together with experienced colleagues to gain hands-on experience. At CGI we have a buddy system that helps you get off to a good start in our company in the first 6 months. The Graduate Class will offer you a solid professional basis to quickly find your way within CGI and our clients. CGI also has active practices, communities where colleagues in similar roles within different industries will meet and share their experience, such as the Dev@CGI community, and Test community.
Your working environment
With almost 40 years in the industry, CGI Space is a growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Security, Earth Observation and SATCOM domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. You will get the opportunity to work for the Galileo programme. Galileo is Europe’s own global navigation satellite system and will consist of 24 satellites and 6 spares in orbit. It is capable of providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. The system is still under development and has recently entered the Exploitation Phase.
