Mission

The CSG, Europe’s spaceport, guarantees Europe’s independent access to space and occupies a leading position in the world market for launch services.

We are looking for a functional safety engineer to join CNES through an exceptional system: You will be based in Kourou for the first 3 years then in Paris at the end of this mission, on a position similar (CDI with CNES mobility agreement). During these three years in Kourou, you will benefit from many advantages.

The Quality-Reliability department is responsible for controlling the risks associated with the services provided by CNES/CSG on behalf of its customers during launch campaigns. The Quality-Reliability department ensures control of the Dependability characteristics (SDF) of the CNES/CSG infrastructures.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for controlling the risks of complex systems in a wide variety of fields (Telemetry, Trajectography, Flight or Ground Backup, Security, Telecommunications, Energy, etc.). These activities are divided into four phases:

1) Projects  : Intervene in the definition of new systems or equipment to bring the vision of risk control. Carry out dependability allocations, risk analyzes and functional modelling. Propose improvements to optimize future systems or equipment.

2) Launch campaign  : Participate in the definition of CNES/CSG missions within the framework of operational launch activities. Analyze and justify degraded operational configurations allowed during release timelines. Assess reliability and operational availability.

3) System operation phase  : Carry out the SDF experience feedback of the base’s critical equipment. Carry out statistical and SDF studies on the systems in operation.

4) Operations  : Ensure the function of deputy to the Director of Operations for quality in operation (AQO), during the satellite and launcher preparation campaigns. In this context, you will sometimes be required to work staggered hours, and possibly weekends, depending on operational constraints.

Profile

  • Bac+5 with a 1st significant experience in Dependability: functional analysis, FMECA, fault tree, risk analysis, allocations/declinations of SDF objectives, you are comfortable expressing yourself in French and English (C1 ).
  • Skills in space sector risk management will be appreciated as well as a taste for probabilistic and statistical approaches.
  • With a strong team spirit and excellent interpersonal skills, you know how to demonstrate diplomacy and persuasion.
