This position manages a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Software Engineering. Establishes objectives and guidelines for the preparation of software engineering designs and working plans. Creates designs for reviews and coordinates with engineering staff and other organizations regarding product and commercial software design development. Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers.

This role will be based out of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Due to the pandemic, the role will begin working remotely but incumbent must be on island at time of start.

Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Guides and directs the preparation of new or revised designs, and working plans to improve software for products and commercial software.
  •  Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and to build capabilities.
  •  Coordinates with other organizations affected by product and commercial software design development to exchange information, ideas and techniques for design of software in products or processes.
  •  Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion.
  •  Confers with engineering staff and consults on specifications to evaluate interface for product and commercial software and ensures operational and performance requirements of overall system are met.
  •  Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  •  Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  •  Determines end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
  •  Ensures hardware and software standards are met.
  •  Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and use.
  •  May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
  •  May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
  •  Includes control modeling (model based design)..

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Strong attention to detail and personal organization.
  • Professional attitude toward work assignments, toward customer relationships, and toward company/department goals and vision.
  • English fluency (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in the aerospace industry.
  • Degree in software engineering or related.
  • Ability to manage programs or parts of the program including successfully managing small group of engineers under your technical guidance.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills including risk management, project scheduling and staffing.
  • Knowledge of software requirements decomposition, design, programming, and integration / test
  • Possess strong leadership skills as demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring to develop the team composition, and training.
  • Experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future needs.
