As part of the development of its activities in the space sector, the Payload Data & Application department of the Space Business Unit is recruiting a digital simulation/SAR imaging engineer .

You will join the Radar expertise team, mainly dedicated to supporting international missions in radar altimetry. The mission is to provide support for development activities on the RADARSPYsimulation platform . This platform consists of a set of libraries bringing together various functions in the simulation and processing of radar altimetry, scatterometry or SAR imagery echoes within the DSO/SI/IP and DSO/SI/TR services of CNES. This platform aims to serve as a shared development space within the CNES departments concerned. On the other hand, the study will consist in continuing to develop the functions of signal generation, simulation of the instrument chain and generation of products in order to develop the key functionalities identified by CNES.

The nature of the potential missions requires the following skills:

  • Signal processing, radar/SAR signal (at least knowledge, basics of SAR imagery)
  • Geometry in space
  • Numerical simulation
  • Numerical algorithms
  • Unit tests, validation
  • Software engineering (Design Pattern, UML)

Image processing skills are a plus.


  • You hold a Bac +5 diploma or a Doctorate and have a similar experience of at least 4 years.
  • Experience in processing radar altimeter signal and image processing is an asset to your application.
  • A good level of conversational, written and technical English is essential.

The nature of the potential missions requires the following skills:

  • Numerical simulation
  • Numerical algorithms
  • Software engineering (Design Pattern, UML)

Knowledge of SAR imagery is an asset to your application.

Your technical skills:

  • System: Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Red hat), Windows
  • Languages: Python ( Dask, Numpy, SciPy , Numba)
  • Utilities and Products: Git, Jupyter, Design Pattern, UML, unit testing and validation

Your qualities :

  • Ability to analyze
