Dawn Aerospace is recruiting a Propulsion Test Engineer to join our Christchurch, New Zealand team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate community of engineers looking to change how we fly to space.

In this role, you will be doing hands-on work with space grade technology, assisting in designing, assembling and testing our Spaceplane’s rocket engines

Responsibilities

• Conduct and prepare for rocket engine test campaigns.
• Oversee the manufacture and assembly of rocket engine components and rocket systems.
• Identify and solve time critical hardware and design issues in a high-pressure environment.
• Diagnose problems in hardware design, procedures, and provide recommendations and support to resolve these.
• Find the most cost and time-effective strategy for obtaining relevant test results.
• Communicate and negotiate with third party suppliers to procure components on time.

Requirements

• A degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD design, specifically with SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with the NI LabView environment.
• Prior experience in the design of aircraft or space systems.
• Mechanical aptitude for metalworking machines and equipment.
• Understanding of aircraft design standards and quality management systems.
• Practically minded with a can-do attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in international teams.
• Understanding of how hardware tests are planned and conducted.
• Quick learner, can adapt to new tools and environments.
• Independent and structured way of working.
• Willing to go out of their way to help others.
