Dawn Aerospace is recruiting a Propulsion Test Engineer to join our Christchurch, New Zealand team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate community of engineers looking to change how we fly to space.
In this role, you will be doing hands-on work with space grade technology, assisting in designing, assembling and testing our Spaceplane’s rocket engines
Responsibilities
- Conduct and prepare for rocket engine test campaigns.
- Oversee the manufacture and assembly of rocket engine components and rocket systems.
- Identify and solve time critical hardware and design issues in a high-pressure environment.
- Diagnose problems in hardware design, procedures, and provide recommendations and support to resolve these.
- Find the most cost and time-effective strategy for obtaining relevant test results.
- Communicate and negotiate with third party suppliers to procure components on time.
Requirements
- A degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
- Proficiency in CAD design, specifically with SolidWorks.
- Proficiency with the NI LabView environment.
- Prior experience in the design of aircraft or space systems.
- Mechanical aptitude for metalworking machines and equipment.
- Understanding of aircraft design standards and quality management systems.
- Practically minded with a can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in international teams.
- Understanding of how hardware tests are planned and conducted.
- Quick learner, can adapt to new tools and environments.
- Independent and structured way of working.
- Willing to go out of their way to help others.
