Dawn Aerospace is a space transportation company providing in-space satellite propulsion to its customers globally and developing a same-day reusable spaceplane.

The company has achieved a series of significant milestones in the past 12 months, including launching 21 propulsion units to space from Europe and the USA and completing the successful first flights of the suborbital spaceplane, the Dawn Mk-II Aurora. Dawn was named Hi-Tech Startup Company of the Year (2020), Emerging Business of the Year at the NZ International Business Awards (2021) and won the Supreme Award for medium/large business at the Westpac Champion Business Awards (2021, Canterbury).

Responsibilities and functions

  • ERP system – upkeep and improvement
  • Supplier relations (liaison, negotiation, evaluation, approval etc.)
  • Sourcing and procurement
  • Control of raw material and inward goods
  • Production planning, capability input, and communication thereof
  • Inventory management
  • Picking and preparation of assembly kits
  • Warehousing & distribution
  • Dispatch and freight
  • Market access and boarder compliance i.e., customs

Outcomes

  • An established and well communicated supply chain vision which in turn guides the development of our supply chain practices, rules, and systems. These activities shall all support Dawn’s vision of sustainable scalable space transportation.
  • Creation and maintenance of a Supply Chain Management System that ensures compliance with any applicable regulations and/or requirements
  • Oversight and review of capital and operational budgets for supply chain functions
  • Recruitment, retention leadership and development of a highly motivated team that fits Dawn’s culture
  • Establishment and promotion of highly responsive, efficient, and effective supply chain processes and practices through collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Development, and other relevant functions.
  • Master production scheduling and inventory capability
  • Develop and manage continuous improvement activities within the supply chain domain
  • Promote the Dawn Health and Safety culture

Requirements

  • 3- 5 years working in a supply chain that moves goods internationally
  • Experience with an ERP system and MRP is essential

Desired experience

  • Experience in aerospace supply chain management
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Extensive people management experience
  • Experience with DEAR/Cin 7
