Electrical Engineer – Mk-II Program

Looking for an opportunity to be responsible for the design and integration of the full powertrain for a rocket engine? This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an exciting, fast-growing company in the aerospace industry and develop world-leading technology.

This role will include the selection of batteries, the design of a battery management system and accompanying wiring harness. You will also be responsible for the electrical integration of the propulsion system into our spaceplane and will serve as the bridge between airframe, avionics and other subsystem teams. Your experience and good engineering judgement will be valuable contributors to design discussions and trade-offs. You’ll get the unique opportunity to work on both suborbital and orbital vehicles.

What you will do:

  • Design, analysis, manufacture, integration and testing of propulsion system componentry.
  • Translate engineering requirements and specifications into high quality, well-tested, electronic systems.
  • Interface management between the different spaceplane subsystems.
  • System engineering to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Writing of documentation, assembly manuals, design reports, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Work alongside engineers from a variety of disciplines.
  • Coordination with component suppliers.
  • Clearly document and present designs at various stages of completion.

Requirements

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in powertrain design and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of batteries and battery management systems.
  • Knowledge of wiring harness design.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering.
  • Hands on background with electrical systems.
  • MS Office tools, full proficiency expected.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.

It would be great If you also had…

  • Experience writing embedded software in C.
  • Experience in designing schematics and layouting PCBs in EDA, such as Altium, Cadence or KiCad.
  • Experienced with Solidworks or similar CAD tool.
  • Experience in design for additive manufacturing / 3D printing.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW.
