Systems Analyst, In-Space Propulsion

We are looking for an exceptional Propulsion Analyst with a practical, can-do attitude to join our in-space propulsion team. In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis, simulation and optimisation of propulsion systems for satellites.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis, simulation and validation of Dawn’s satellite propulsion systems
  • Support engineering teams in the design of propulsion subsystems including liquid rocket engines, propellant tanks, and ancillary systems
  • Develop and execute test procedures to verify and validate systems and components. This includes qualification and acceptance testing
  • System sizing and component selection

Requirements

  • A degree in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering (or similar)
  • Fundamental understanding of turbulent compressible flows and thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with rocket theory
  • Prior experience conducting complex CFD and/or coupled multiphysics simulations – including transient analyses and user-defined functions
  • Demonstrated experience with Matlab or Python
  • Proven oral and written communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and engineering professionals
  • The ability to take a flexible approach and to adapt to change quickly and positively
  • Effectively and appropriately balance performance, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule

Desired experience

  • Computer-aided design, preferably Solidworks
  • Test automation experience using LabView
  • Understanding of principles of combustion
  • Awareness of simulation validation requirements
