Rocket technician

Your mission:

The Mobile Missile Base (MORABA) of the Space Operations and Astronaut Training facility conducts high-altitude missile and balloon missions for scientific purposes. The goal is the efficient and affordable provision of unique research opportunities for researchers from all over Europe, particularly in the areas of atmospheric, microgravity and hypersonic research, but also astronomy. MORABA concentrates the key competencies in the areas of electronics, radio frequency technology, aero and flight dynamics as well as mechanics in an interdisciplinary department. Become part of the “Launch Services” group and support the development of new launch systems, introduction of flight dynamics analyzes, operation of mobile launch systems, integration of launch systems and payloads at the launch site and launch implementation.

They take on the following tasks:

  • Design, modification, construction, test and operation of electronic subsystems for rocket launcher and payload support systems according to the rough specifications of the engineers
  • Design, construction, test and operation of electronic assemblies as well as the creation of work instructions for tests and operational operations during high-altitude missile missions, including flight into space
  • Maintenance, calibration and control of the mobile launch pad

Your qualification:

  • State-certified technician in electrical engineering or comparable fields
  • Completed technical training, e.g. electronics technician for devices and systems
  • Experience in training and / or as a technician
  • Good expertise in general electrical engineering
  • Experience in building electronic circuits and assemblies
  • Knowledge of the Windows operating system
  • Good knowledge in the use of MS Office programs
  • Very good knowledge of German (spoken and written)
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to repeat business trips of several weeks, also abroad
  • Willingness to check security
  • Approval for activities according to the ESA standard (SMT, LFV, BGA) is an advantage
  • Programming knowledge in Simatic S7 advantageous
  • Programming skills in C and Python desirable
