Your mission:

Novel manufacturing technologies on an industrial scale are being scientifically investigated at the center for lightweight production technology at the Stade location. Using a robot-based research platform, such as the fully automated RTM process chain, the production of stiffening structures from CFRP is demonstrated. The most important step in this process chain is consolidation, as this is where the preform receives its final geometry. During consolidation, individual fiber layers are compressed under pressure and temperature into a preform. After compression, relaxation effects occur, which, however, change the preform geometry and thus make automated production more difficult.

The aim of the advertised position is to examine the main influencing factors in the compression and later relaxation of L-angle preforms. To investigate these influencing factors, a test device was developed with which test specimens are to be manufactured and analyzed at this location.

Possible task packages:

  • Independent planning and implementation of practical test series with varying process parameters
  • Evaluation and presentation of the measurement results with regard to the influencing variables
  • Analysis of the measurement results with regard to the active principles

Your qualification:

  • Studied mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
  • Ability to carry out precise experimental or scientific work
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of fiber composites desirable
  • Experience in the practical implementation and evaluation of experiments is desirable
