Baseband Hardware Engineer

We are looking for a Baseband Hardware Engineer to lead the design and build of our space and ground systems. This role will work closely with other hardware engineering counterparts to architect and design innovative systems using cutting edge technology and techniques to achieve high levels of performance and form factor optimization.

This role is available in our Beverly, MA, Bethesda, MD, or Toulouse, France locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead baseband hardware development efforts from concept, creation and through mass production
  • Work with internal engineering teams to distill system requirements into hardware architectures
  • Identify optimal chipsets, components and technologies to meet product goals
  • Lead board-level power grid and baseband processor subsystem design and optimization
  • Lead schematic capture efforts and drive PCB CAD and manufacturing efforts
  • Document and drive board bring-up and design verification test plans
  • Document and drive all design review gates through production sign-off
  • Support engagements with external design partners and contract manufacturers
  • Support internal software and systems teams and lead hardware troubleshooting efforts

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required, M.S. in Electrical Engineering is a plus
  • 10+ years in hardware system design, preferably for wireless and/or satellite applications
  • Knowledge of 3GPP protocols and system architectures for basestations and terminals is a plus
  • Knowledge of radiation hardening and shielding measures for space-based hardware is a plus
  • Experience with multi-core processor subsystem architectures, design and test
  • Experience with high-speed memory bus design and test (e.g. DDR3/4/5)
  • Experience with multi-gigabit serial link design and test (e.g. JESD204B, 100GbE, PCIe)
  • Experience with PCB layout for highest level of density (e.g. blind / buried uVia, fine pitch, etc.)
  • Experience with PCB techniques and design for power and thermal management
  • Experience with PCB simulation for signal and power integrity
  • Mass production experience both domestic and overseas
  • FPGA design experience is a plus, firmware design experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with Cadence EDA tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, PI/SI analysis
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with short development times
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
