We are currently looking to reinforce our team with a Senior Space Systems Engineer to take the lead in designing next generation Edge AI hardware systems holding the potential to change the course of the space industry and making life better on earth.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Architect, Design, Verify, Validate and Test embedded systems for space hardware
  • Taking the technical lead over teams during the full course of the projects
  • Define high/low level embedded hardware architectures
  • Define, validate and test high/low level system requirements
  • Select, test and trade-off components for embedded systems
  • Prepare technical responses to invitations to tender
  • Responsible for the delivery of technical products for assigned projects
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Supporting preparation and execution of project reviews
  • Defining Scope and Engineering Costs for proposals

  • BSc, MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of space hardware systems engineering
  • Experience with High Speed PCB design, layout and schematics
  • Experience with PCB design tools (e.g. Altium Designer)
  • Experience with embedded Linux, C/C++ and Python
  • Experience in designing heterogeneous processing systems
  • Experience in designing, implementing, debugging, validating, and testing the following communication protocols: CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, SPW, ETH, USB
  • Experience using hardware debugging tools such as the oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and protocol analyzer
  • Experience with Design, Validation and Verification based on ECSS standards
  • Good understanding of indicated mission and system requirements management
  • Experience with the system development cycle, from feasibility studies to qualification and production from a co-optimised HW and SW perspective
  • Experience in writing system studies, technology & design development, qualification and acceptance
  • Working knowledge of hardware level software development, including use of timers, interrupts, hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs, bootloaders and debug tools
  • Experience with Linux based embedded system (for non-critical ground products) and Python for automated test setups
  • Experience programming and testing high reliability, safety critical, and fault tolerant systems
  • Excellent organisational and communication (documentation, presentation, interpersonal) skills
  • Ability to synthesise, summarise and draw conclusions
  • Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality and deadlines
  • Problem solving mindset
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience with Git revisioning system
  • Experience with working in an Agile environment (SCRUM, …)
  • Experience in leading or mentoring peers and junior engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the team and company to drive designs to completion.
