The Job

ESR Technology is recruiting for Senior / Principal consultants to join our Safety and Risk Management team in Cheshire and Aberdeen focussing on delivery of effective assessment and advice to a wide range of organisations, particularly Oil and Gas Operators who are embracing the challenges of the Energy Transition and other clients in the major hazard industries worldwide.

The group has its roots in the 1970’s, developing cutting-edge risk management techniques. We have continued to develop capability and advance our expertise, including our own risk assessment software to support our consultancy. As leading consultants, our work is predominantly desk based, but requires flexibility to visit our clients in the UK and across the world and demands a high level of both numeracy and report writing skills.

Our key clients’ increased demand for our services is fuelling the growth of our safety and risk teams and further advancing our expertise.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to prioritise work. It is essential that the candidate has:

  • Good problem-solving skills and is highly numerate (a degree in chemical engineering or physics is highly desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Technical report writing ability
  • The ability to work reliably as a team player
  • Experienced in leading Process Hazard Analysis workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, FMECA, Bowtie, etc.)
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant safety consultancy experience, preferably in a high hazard industry
  • An understanding of Quantitative Risk assessment techniques and Safety Case requirements
  • Travel Requirement , occasional UK and International travel for Client/Site visits.

Although not essential the following would be of benefit:

  • Experience in the use of Quantitative Risk Analysis Software such as Phast and Safeti
  • Excel skills, Visual Basic and C++ experience
  • A commercial/business focus
  • Membership of a professional institution

Qualifications

A good degree in engineering or science with excellent written and oral communication skills. Membership of a professional institution would be an advantage.

Employment Category: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
