Job Description

As part of the Technological Innovation Team and in close cooperation with the other innovation engineers, the main tasks of the selected applicant will be to:

  • Ensure technology watch in respect of innovation projects (internal and/or external)
  • Contribute to the design and to the various stages of the study and development of new systems, products and services
  • Take part in simulation campaigns and field tests: preparation, execution, result analysis
  • Follow the development of software and hardware solutions implementing the various components
  • Analyse, design and test advanced digital communications systems, using combinations of RF blocks, FPGA and embedded software

The role also implies:

  • Administrative follow-up of projects
  • Technology watch in the area of satellite telecommunications (coding, protocols, modulation techniques, antennas)
  • Interacting with technological partners and standardisation groups
  • Modelling entire communication systems using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar tools
  • Partitioning functions between HW and SW.
  • Verifying the performance of the full radio system and its various components
  • Designing advanced antenna and feed systems in support of next-generation products
  • Assisting in the design of ASICs and/or FPGA for multiple products: specification & design phase, vendor selection and support for implementation and validation.


  • Postgraduate (“Baccalauréat” + 5Y) or PhD, minimum 5 to 10 years of specific experience in the development of new systems in the area of telecommunications
  • In-depth knowledge of signal processing, modulation techniques (TDM, CDMA spread spectrum), satellite transmission systems (DVB-S2 and DVB-RCS2) and mobile terrestrial networks (UMTS et LTE)
  • Computer knowledge and experience: programming, analysis of requirements, preparation of specifications, tests, data bases, DSP, networking, TCP/IP
  • Fair theoretical and practical knowledge of modern wireless systems, RF, digital signal processing, MIMO, FPGA, ASIC, antennas
  • Experience in modelling and developing baseband radio circuits and software defined radios (SDRs) with a broad understanding of modulation and demodulation, data and frame synchronization, equalization and channel coding
  • Knowledge in communication system architecture, from RF to baseband through to applications, and at different levels (ISO/OSI)
  • Fluent English
  • Familiar with communications modelling tools such as Matlab, Python and C++

The following will be considered as assets:

  • Experience in developing FPGA and VLSI based-solutions and working with RF systems and protocol engineers
  • Specific Silicon/ASIC/FPGA design experience
  • Experience in the design and modelling of digital communication systems
  • Experience with modern wireless systems such 3G/4G cellular systems
  • Experience with system architecture definition/specification, high level block partitioning CMOS or system design
  • Computer (microprocessor or DSP) or communications (cellular, cable, or satellite) architecture background
  • Business/marketing skills
