Role

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding instrument for research and innovation. The programme aims at increasing the EU’s research capacities by boosting competitiveness and growth and tackling major global challenges.

The network of National Contact Points (NCPs) is the main structure to provide guidance, practical information and assistance on all aspects of participation in Horizon Europe by providing information, guidance and personalised support to Maltese researchers and entities wishing to participate in EU research programmes. Programme Committee Members represent national interests at EU level.

The Malta Council for Science and Technology is Malta’s national contact point organisation for Horizon Europe. The Council is currently seeking to recruit an Executive to act as National Contact Point and Programme Committee delegate in various areas of specialisation.

Duties

  • Assist researchers and organisations who wish to participate and submit projects under the EU Framework Programme calls through tailored advice, partner searches, regular updates and reviewing proposals as necessary.
  • Raise awareness of Horizon Europe funding opportunities including specific parts of the programme such as Missions, Partnerships and EIT KICs and ensuring programme objectives such as gender equality are highlighted.
  • Ensure effective promotion of Horizon Europe, COST and other R&I programmes and initiatives through one-to-one meetings, organisation of workshops, events and webinars.
  • Effectively promote the Unit’s support measures with relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend relevant National Contact Point and Programme Committee meetings abroad or online, and provide input and follow up as necessary.
  • Carry out tasks in assigned project/s such as network projects, including relevant technical, administrative and financial reporting.
  • Support the maintenance and update of any online tools and ensure marketing material and online information is kept up-to-date.
  • Coordinate work with other ministries and entities as required.
  • Draw up regular progress reports and other required documentation on ongoing and future FP-related initiatives including collecting feedback for future Work Programmes.
  • Following up policy-related communications and developments across an international dimension. Participate as required in internationalisation initiatives, the implementation of the national research strategy and the monitoring of projects.

Requisites

Master’s qualification at MQF Level 7 in science, or ICT or engineering subject, or a relevant comparable professional qualification from a recognised and accredited University (MQRIC if applicable, https://mfhea.mt/ academic-qualifications/) and with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in a related field.

Or

First Degree at MQF Level 6 in science, or ICT or engineering subject, or a relevant comparable professional qualification from a recognised and accredited University (MQRIC if applicable, https://mfhea.mt/academicqualifications/ ) and with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a related field.

Working Conditions

This position is on an indefinite basis with a starting salary of €27,031 per annum and a yearly increment subject to good working performance.
