Gama offers access to deep space using low-cost, reliable and scalable solar sails. While chemical and electric propulsion are complex and limited in range, solar sails fulfils the dream of free and continuous acceleration using the sun’s energy.

Founded in late 2020, backed by well known entrepreneurs, and collaborating closely with the French Space Agency (CNES), the team is moving fast for a first launch with SpaceX in 2022 to demonstrate our technology.

Do you think this could be you? To pursue our ambitious vision, we are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer (m/f). In this position, you will be in charge of the design, procurement, tests, and integration of onboard software for our solar sail system.

Your mission will be to:

• Select, validate and integrate, according to the system requirements, the hardware to be used to control our systems.
• Design, build, test and debug space-grade embedded systems software
• Monitor and upgrade the system after development, including improving system efficiency and stability
• Actively contribute to the development of future Gama’s space missions by participating to all project phases

You come with:

• Experience in embedded software design, production, and tests
• A good knowledge of space-grade hardware.
• Significant systems programming experience in low-level languages (C, C++, Rust)
• Experience in troubleshooting embedded systems and microcontroller software
• Experience in working with real-time operating systems
• Proficiency in working with common embedded systems communication protocols
• Strong analytical skills, a proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and unbounded curiosity
• Speak English – further languages welcome
