The Aeronautics Research Project Management Agency (PT-LF), based at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), carries out research funding tasks in the field of aeronautics technology on behalf of the federal government and individual federal states, as well as supporting the EU Commission.

To strengthen our interdisciplinary teams for the scientific and technical support of aviation programs, we are looking for two scientific speakers, preferably for the field of environmentally friendly propulsion technologies in the aviation research program. Support the transformation process towards climate-neutral aviation with your expertise.

As a scientific officer, you will be responsible for the technical supervision and evaluation of projects within the framework of the national aviation research program (LuFo) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the corresponding funding programs of the federal states. Your activities also include advising and supporting applicants and interested parties from industry and research as well as clients.

In addition, the tasks include in particular

  • Participation in strategic project planning and the further development of aviation research programs and national aviation strategies of the federal government and the federal states in cooperation with the BMWK and the respective ministries of the federal states
  • Preparation of technical statements and presentations for ministries as well as internal communication
  • Continuous technology monitoring in the specialist area and related subject areas
  • Analysis and evaluation of technology development in federal and state funding programs as well as in European aeronautics research programs
  • Preparation and maintenance of company and department topic dossiers
  • Cooperation with other departments, companies, associations and scientific institutions and project sponsors as well as networking of the various actors in the research program
  • Preparation and implementation of expert discussions and workshops
  • Representing clients at events or international trade fairs

Your qualification:

  • Completed engineering or scientific university degree (master/diploma) preferably in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Good communication skills and negotiation skills
    Confident and convincing appearance towards partners from politics, economy, research, associations and governmental organizations
  • Initiative, willingness to make decisions, persuasiveness and a goal-oriented way of working
  • Ability to think in an interdisciplinary manner and readiness for interdisciplinary, team-oriented work
  • Impeccable German and very good English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Good general IT skills, especially in dealing with common office software
  • Willingness to undertake regular business trips
    several years of professional experience in a scientific institution or in an industrial company in aviation or related technology areas is an advantage
  • Professional experience in the field of aircraft propulsion / electrified propulsion systems / fuel cells is desirable
  • Ideally experience in project management or in the implementation of third-party funded projects
  • Knowledge of the national and European aviation research scene is an advantage
  • Ideally, knowledge of grant, budget and public procurement law or the willingness to take part in relevant training
