Countdown to a new role in the SATBUS team

The Avionics Crew is part of our Satellite Bus Infrastructure team (SATBUS), which is responsible for all basic satellite infrastructure in terms of hardware, software, and firmware.

Due to a steady increase in the number of engineers and experts in the crew, we have now launched this new management position as Crew Lead.

Through efficient planning, you ensure the right skills at the right time for the projects

The overall responsibility of this new role is to ensure that the Avionics Crew can deploy the right skills and competencies in the projects at any time. This responsibility involves these tasks:

  • Establish long term planning and execution of resources and competencies together with the management.
  • Prioritizing and aligning resources and competencies according to project plans in a short as well as long term horizon.
  • Direct line management: daily personnel management, including 1:1’s, coaching, employee dialogues, competence management, hiring and firing responsibility etc.
  • Maintenance and development of engineering processes.
  • Providing input to skill pool, budgets, technical roadmaps, and processes.

As the new Crew Lead, you ensure that the engineers can work as efficient as possible, and you actively seek ways to improve the way the crew works. You drive the work to improve engineering and coach the crew to perform at its best.

You will report to the head of the SATBUS team and be part of the SATBUS management.

Proficient in SW engineering and some years of leadership experience

We expect that you have a relevant technical education, and minimum 5 years of experience with embedded software or baseband engineering and probably some years of experience as Team Lead, Scrum Master or Technical Lead.

Practical experience with agile development is essential. Besides your qualifications, experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • Programming languages: Mainly C/C++, Python
  • Baseband design
  • Jira and Confluence
  • Cross-site collaboration
  • Quality assurance.

As a person you are team- and result-oriented and have a high drive: you enjoy setting goals and striving for the goals.

You communicate effectively and fluently in English both spoken and written. If you can communicate in one of the following languages, it is a clear advantage: Spanish, Italian, French.

which encompass these high-level components:

  • EPS (Power systems)
  • Avionics software platforms and development kits
  • Avionics hardware – Sensors and actuators
  • ​Computer platforms.

The crew size is currently 9, but it is expected to grow up to 13-15 members within short time. The crew is diverse by nature consisting of people with a wide set of experiences and educational background, however with a common focus on electronics and low-level software.
