Job Description

Honeybee Robotics is seeking a Design for Manufacturability Engineer for our Longmont, CO facility.

The Design for Manufacturability Engineer (DFX-ME) will define and implement manufacturing process best practices with respect to the design of our products.  The DFX-ME will partner with our design engineering group to evaluate new designs for Design-to-Cost, Design-to-Quality, Error-Proofing and Ease of Assembly.

Responsibilities:  

  • Partner with Design Engineering (DE) to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by following best DFX practices and principles.
  • Utilize Poka-Yoke principles applied to product design to prevent mistakes by design in addition to traditional manufacturing techniques to prevent incorrect assembly or fabrication (Error-Proofing).
  • Ensure minimized number of components required within the design, including standardization on fastener sizes as applicable.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and equipment required to ensure quality and production efficiency.
  • Provides production support engineering with respect to technically complex assembly procedures, test methods and failure analysis.
  • Provides direction, guidance and resources to other engineering groups and factory technicians.
  • Assist with transition of highly strategic development projects from Qualification to Production.

Required Experience, Skills and Education:  

  • BS/MS in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years in an aerospace and defense relevant field, ideally products with space flight applications
  • US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Previous design experience with electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Deep understanding of electro-mechanical part/assembly manufacturing and quality management
  • Understands customer specification requirements and how they apply to design and manufacturing
  • Deep understands GD&T and how it effects part design/cost
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers
