ICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data available to customers. Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.

We launched the world’s first small SAR satellite in January 2018. To date, ICEYE has successfully launched a total of 10 SAR satellite missions and has raised $152M in financing. We don’t plan to stop – join our team and let’s achieve great things together!

To support the growth of the company, we are now looking for a Satellite Operator to be based in our office in Warsaw, Poland.

Role Description:

  • Acquiring and processing data from satellite constellation.
  • Ongoing monitoring of communication with constellation.
  • Supervising the process of satellite image ordering.
  • Performing systems analysis needed to support constellation operations.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Development of existing system solutions to optimize satellite performance.
  • Reaction to real time operational issues that may occur in a timely manner with accordance to operational procedures.
  • Reporting and liaising with engineers when anomalies occur on a satellite or at a ground station.
  • Configuring and monitoring of multiple ground stations in line with operational requirements.

Skills required to be successful:

  • Relevant university degree: Aeronautical Engineering, Space studies, Applied Physics or relative experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to program in Python.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to react fast.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent ability to focus.
  • Passion for continual learning.
  • Demonstrable ability to discover and fix errors in code.
  • Strong English language skills (both written and oral).
  • Flexibility in scheduled working hours (ability to work morning, evening and night shifts, 365/24/7 basis).
  • Familiarity with Linux based systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with STK, scenario simulations & orbit propagations preferred.
