THE MISSION

As part of the structural tests team, you will perform tests for development and qualification of our launch vehicle structures and mechanisms. For each test campaign you will do all necessary activities from test conception, procurement, build-up to test execution and results analysis. You will help manage and upgrade the existing test facilities while developing new ones as they become necessary. In addition to that, you will participate on the product development cycle in close contact with the launch vehicle teams, being a reference for all testing related issues. In short, expect a steep learning curve and huge contributions to the new space industry in Europe.

More specifically, you will:

  • Help to define test requirements together with the structures team
  • Select and procure the necessary equipment and instrumentation
  • Design and analyse mechanical hardware, using FEM when necessary
  • Coordinate the procurement and assembly of the test setup
  • Execute the test campaign
  • Evaluate and analyse the results and support the product development process
  • Continuously improve the test facilities and procedures

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU HAVE

Musts:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering or equivalent education
  • Experience with testing of structures, mechanisms, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems
  • Experience with procurement of test equipment and sensors
  • Knowledge about sensor and DAQ system technology
  • Capable of hand calculations of structural strength for static loads
  • Basic project management skills
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and constantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go out of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English

Nice-to-haves:

  • Previous experience in a similar position as responsible engineer
  • Experience managing hydraulic of pneumatic test facility
  • Experience testing composite materials
  • Experience with cryogenics
  • Aerospace experience, preferably with launch vehicle development
  • Previous experience in using the respective ECSS and SMC standards
  • Hands-on test experience in industry, academy or another laboratory environment
  • FEM experience
  • CAD experience
  • German knowledge is a plus
