Job description
We are looking for an experienced Thermal and/or Mechanical Engineer to fill one or more positions in our in-house engineering team ATG EngineeringLab in Frascati, Italy. We work mostly within the space industry, as well as in other high-tech industries. Candidates who master both Thermal and Mechanical disciplines will have an advantage, however specialized Thermal or Mechanical engineers are also encouraged to apply as we can accommodate different types of profiles in our multi-disciplinary team. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism. The deadline for submitting applications is 14 August 2023.
Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
- Generation, review and/or negotiation of requirements/specifications;
- Generation and/or review of Design, Development, and Verification Plans;
- Conceptual and detailed design of Thermal Control Systems and/or Structures and Mechanisms;
- Modeling and analysis of spacecraft and other high-tech systems;
- Optimization of spacecraft and other high-tech Thermal Control Systems and/or Mechanical systems.;
- Definition of testing plans and procedures;
- Participation in Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing of total systems, as the responsible Thermal and/or Mechanical Engineer;
- Model correlation in relation to test data;
- Documentation of the work, and presentation and justification of the work in reviews;
- Direct interfacing with customers on technical level and participation in program level communication;
- Participation in Quality Assurance and Quality Control tasks in the team;
- Supervision/coordination of junior colleagues/interns;
- Participation and active contribution to team and company development, e.g., generating/supporting novel technical ideas/innovations, new processes/methods, new ways of work and positive work culture.

Job requirements
- A Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or similar;
- At least 3 years of relevant industrial work experience;
- Broad knowledge and experience of how to develop and realize typical and more novel Spacecraft Thermal Control solutions and/or typical and more novel spacecraft Structures and Mechanisms;
- Applied multi-disciplinary skill and experience in Thermo-Elastics is a strong asset;
- For Thermal Engineers; at least 3 years applied experience with ESATAN-TMS in industrial settings (transitioning from a similar software can be discussed);
- For Mechanical Engineers; at least 3 years applied experience with an FEM package in industrial settings. In particular, FEMAP/NASTRAN or other NASTRAN versions are preferred. (transitioning from a similar software can be discussed);
- Experience with a CAD software – preferably including experience with manufacturing drawing and GD&T. Experience with Catia V5 in particular is an asset but other relevant softwares are relevant too
- Experience in the selection, definition and performance of manufacturing, joining, inspection, assembly, integration and testing processes;
- Excellent work structuring, organization, and coordination skills;
- Motivation to work in the space sector as well as other high-tech sectors;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Personal drive to excellence
- Team-player mindset, knowing when to ask or give help, wanting to win as a collective;
- A rudimentary sense of humor, and ability and interest to work pragmatically are essential traits;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
- Able to periodically travel to company HQ in The Netherlands and travel for work missions.
