Mechanical design team is looking for a curious and motivated mechanical design engineer who will be contributing to the design and development of nano and micro satellites as well as their subsystem mechanical R&D. 

AS MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Support business development department with the design of preliminary satellite level and/or subsystem level layout and feasibility studies at pre-contract stage
  • Design and develop satellites and their mechanical subsystems
  • Assist simulation engineers by preparing (defeaturing) CAD geometry for FEA
  • Prepare relevant documentation for design reviews
  • Participate in design reviews, present the work done and collect feedback from colleagues as well as customers
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings and arrange manufacturing with external suppliers
  • Perform quick and simple structural and thermal calculations to justify design decisions
  • Design testing equipment for satellites and their subsystems
  • Process raw test data, analyze results, write test reports, and manage test related documentation

WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

  • Good understanding of the following subjects: machine elements, materials engineering, manufacturing technology, mechanics of materials, structures, and solids
  • At least 2-years’ experience in 3D modelling with SolidWorks or equivalent (e.g. NX, Creo, Catia, etc.)
  • Some experience with 2D engineering drawings and a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Good English language skills
  • Have an advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Have good English language skills (at least B1)
  • Enjoy working in a team and independently

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Work/internship experience in space industry
  • Familiarity with ECSS and NASA standards/handbooks
  • Experience in precision engineering
  • Experience in structural/thermal FEA simulations
  • Programming skills (Java, Python)
  • Experience in microcontrollers (Arduino, others) programming, system real time control, physical data (temperature, pressure, force, distance, etc.) acquisition, data processing
  • Hobby/personal technical project experience
