The Opportunity 

The Radar Operations Engineer will have experience in an operations environment similar to a network operations center, mission control or equivalent operations experience. This individual will have the ability to actively monitor the Leolabs Network of Radar Systems, taking restorative action and escalating issues as needed. The Radar Operations Center is responsible for maintaining the health, safety, availability and data flow of the LeoLabs Network of Radar Systems. Our long term vision is to grow the Radar Operations Center (ROC) in such a way that it accommodates the LeoLabs growing Network of Radar Systems, while maintaining maximum uptime and availability. This role will help shape and develop the future of the Radar Operations Center, including creating processes and procedures, defining critical monitoring points and helping identify development opportunities. This role will also be involved with special events like LEOP and aid remotely with maintenance at the radar sites. We are looking for someone that is a motivated, self starter.


  • B.S., M.S in a STEM field or equivalent experience is acceptable
  • Experience working in a network operations center, mission control or similar operations environment
  • Experience with incident management or incident commander role, reacting and responding to anomalous activity and/or escalate accordingly
  • Experience with documenting and logging daily and off nominal activities
  • Metric analysis and data correlation to past or present system impact
  • Experience creating and maintaining operations process and procedure
  • The ability to read and understand python scripting and utilize a command line interface
  • General understanding of RF principles and modulation
  • Ability to work a flexible and variable work schedule

Preferred qualifications

  • Background in servers and networking
  • An understanding of software development
  • Experience and general understanding of AWS and cloud computing
  • Experience with agile methodologies

Within 1 month, you’ll:

  • Complete our onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision and team
  • Gain an understanding about how your role fits into LeoLabs broader organization
  • The ability to monitor the LeoLabs Network of Radars and report any anomalies activity to the proper channels

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Understand the fundamentals of operating the Leolabs Network of Radars
  • Ability to monitor radars independently and document off-nominal activity

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Actively contributing to the Radar Operations Center and collaborating with counterparts in international locations
  • Create process and procedure
  • Contribute in the software development and automation of radars

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Help mentor new ROC employees and assist in training and developing the ROC Team
