The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have opportunity to work on Loft Missions:

  • Develop and maintain mechanical analysis budgets
  • Create, maintain and alter CAD models
  • Conduct basic structural and thermal analysis of small payload components
  • Develop, in collaboration with team members, interface specifications and other design documents
  • Collaborate to generate test plans and procedures to assist in structural and thermal verification activities
  • Support the Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) of all stages of a space missions
  • Work with suppliers, customers and sub-contractors as necessary
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure successful mission execution

General Requirements

Must Haves

  • Candidates should have 3+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the space industry
  • Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Engineer on spacecraft subsystems/payloads as well as the overall space vehicle
  • Demonstrated experience in small satellite assembly, integration and test campaigns with an emphasis on vibration and thermal testing
  • Proficient with Solidworks or similar
  • Experience in a fast-paced development environment
  • Prior experience delivering a spacecraft such as ECSS and NASA GEVS
  • Basic experience performing structural FEA (unit level analysis)

Nice to Haves

  • Experience performing thermal design and analysis (system and/or unit level)
  • Experience working with launch providers/brokers
  • Understanding of force-limited vibration and transfer functions
