The IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) department, with its 100 researchers and engineers, focuses on the digital transformation of operations in organizations with traditional environments and digital ecosystems, with the aim of improving their performance and innovation capacity. The common thread throughout ITIS is to develop the most efficient use of big data to ensure the most appropriate decision-making processes.

The department relies on the Data Analytics Platform: a hybrid infrastructure covering the entire range of data analytics activities. The platform is based on three pillars: a high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, a cognitive analytics pillar and an interactive visualization wall (Viswall).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology is opening a permanent position to complete the software engineering team of its AIDA Lab Platform.
  • In collaboration with the various research groups, this team has the responsibility to design suitable architectures and implement research prototypes and software demonstrators. The implemented solutions will be used to assess new technologies relevance and adoption by users, as well as its robustness, and scalability in production-like environments.
  • Teamwork and respect are key values in AIDA Lab. You will join a team of experienced and motivated IT professionals and will contribute to further develop the AIDA Lab services for the LIST community and partners.
  • You will benefit from a mutual exchange of experience and knowledge in a quite unique environment. Indeed, the AIDA Lab team members have the opportunity to work with a variety of up-to-date technologies (both open source and commercial products). They are interacting with colleagues from all over the world working in a large diversity of application domains like energy, space, health techs, industry, fintechs, mobility, material and environmental sciences. You will be working in projects in collaboration with both academic partners and key players from the industry. This diversity in the working environment makes this position very special in terms of learning opportunities.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or equivalent (speciality in Software Engineering considered a plus)

Experience and skills

  • Good collaborative skills, result-oriented mindset, excellent organization and capacity to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
  • Service-oriented mindset with good communication skills for understanding technical issues and clearly explaining solutions
  • Ability to think out of the box to suggest innovative and creative solutions
  • Experience in software engineering in a professional context is a plus
  • Sound skills in web application development. Experience with at least React, Angular or Vue
  • Backend development experience with technologies like NodeJS, Express.
  • Experience with SQL databases e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL and NoSQL database like MongoDB
  • Solid knowledge about the microservices architectural pattern
  • Experience with Linux OS
  • Experience with DevOps practices is an asset. Knowledge about Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and
  • Kubernetes is expected.
  • Experience in Python and MLOps is a plus
  • An experience of working with on-premises or cloud-based data analytics platforms is an advantage

Language skills

  • Good English proficiency required (verbal and written communication).
