Summary

Redwire Space is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer with 4+ years of work experience (or 2 years or work experience with a Masters’ Degree) to participate in developing breakthrough manufacturing technologies for space and terrestrial spin-offs. The structural engineer is responsible for analyzing, researching, developing structural engineering solutions and substantiations involving metals, non-metallic or composite materials for space applications. Position involves mechanical system structural design analysis related to new product development. Successful candidate will interface with manufacturing engineers, provide structural support for laboratory fatigue testing and flight test operations, as well as continued support of existing hardware. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability, thermal analysis, and primarily Static and Fatigue stress analysis, including life calculations, as well as required structural analysis report documentation. Tools include Autodesk Inventor, ANSYS, NASTRAN, Power Point, Word, and Excel as well as a variety of specialized software applications.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Related field
  • Minimum or 4 years of experience (or 2+ years’ experience with a Masters’ Degree) analyzing, researching, and developing structural engineering solutions for complex mechanical and mechatronics systems for space applications.
  • Demonstrated software knowledge using knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Significant demonstrated software knowledge in Finite Element Analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Support work-related travel up to 25% (mostly local)

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of GD&T and/or tolerance critical design-for-assembly
  • Technical knowledge of launch and operational environments and structural design in high vibration environments.
  • Contextual familiarity with design for challenging thermal environments
  • Secret Security Clearance May be required by the program
