The Procurement department in Maersk Asia Pacific Liner Operations is offering a unique opportunity to gain and develop best practice industry knowledge within the procurement field from our office in Sydney. This is a 6-month fixed term position. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with the Liner Operations procurement organisation and at the same time being a part of the global procurement and operations community with new exciting opportunities for personal and professional development. Within our own and the larger Liner Operations team, you will enjoy support from colleagues and management who possess extensive experience in sourcing, cost management and liner business. In terms of personal development, this position polishes your ability to deliver results through internal and external stakeholders, which in this case are several and complex. Networking and interaction with vendors in the region will be an important part of the work.

You will also be part of rolling out the new procurement strategies and to continue improve our strategic position of cost leadership within the industry.

Key responsibilities

The procurement function is largely based on projects and therefore the daily work will be diverse and vary throughout the period. You will be exposed to a variety of tasks such as:

  • Optimize the invoice and payment process. Including Rate filing & maintenance. Arrange to have the missing rates sorted out with suppliers/Procure-to-Pay (PTP) teams for smooth invoice process
  • Help support the compliance framework. Contracts setup and filed
  • Setup contracts/coversheets for all pending & missing contracts in L&S. Follow up with suppliers and the legal teams during implementation
  • EMR/Depot optimization – Facilitate discussions with the supplier base to implement identified efficiency measures related Repairs and Storage
  • Assist to settle any Rate/payment disputes that arise within the scope
  • Data Analysis for adhoc projects
