Thales Alenia Space Schweiz AG in Zurich, with its 75 employees, is the Swiss branch of the internationally operating Thales Alenia Space, which has been developing, integrating, testing and operating innovative and complex space systems for more than 40 years. Thales Alenia Space Switzerland technologies and products are used in the exploration of our solar system and the cosmos, earth observation and satellite telecommunications

Whether on the ground or in space: Together with Thales Alenia Space we make important contributions to international space programmes like Galileo or ExoMars. On board of thousands of satellites, more than 18,000 travelling wave tubes enable a reliable transmission of mission critical data for navigation and for earth or climate monitoring.

Manager Development and IVVQ (m/f/d) (Ref.Nr. R0120330)

For our activities in the field of space at our headquarters in Zürich

You will enjoy having this responsibility:

Member of the management team, leading 3 direct reportings:

  • Manager of Solution Architect team
  • Manager of Engineering Team
  • Manager of Integration, Validation, Verification and Qualification team

It also involves the following tasks:

  • The management of the execution of the different disciplines (e.g. thermal, mechanical, electronics, optics and photonics), the quality of the execution of the activities. The main goal of the Development and & IVVA department shall be the execution of the project activities on time, on cost and quality
  • In the function the manager (m/f/d) of Development & IVVQ shall work together with peers, namely the Manager Operation, the Manager of Quality, the CTO and the Manager Bid & Business Development
  • In this role you will interact with customers, partners, external stakeholders and with different teams within the organization
  • You will take responsibility for a cost-center which includes around 40 team members

You have:

  • Degree in engineering or similar
  • At least 5 years expierience in similar position, proven track record of leadership with multi-disciplinarily team
  • Solid and proven background in management of development, in leading multi-disciplinary teams, with good understanding of different engineering disciplines
  • Experience in development environment for space would be appreciated
  • Proactive and good communication skills with stakeholders such as customers, industrials partners, teams and management
  • Strong focus on teamwork – you will act as integrator, coordinator and motivator of teams
  • You are ready to take responsibility for the decision towards the mentioned stakeholders
  • Able to get a fast overview on complex situations and to prioritize in a fast pace environment
  • Willingness to accept a temporary one-year contract with the option to transform into a regular contract afterwards
