We’re on the hunt for an Product / Quality Assurance Lead on our Space Systems team at our UK office in Didcot.

MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As our presence grows overseas, so does our need for new ambitious team players to help us advance our place in the Universe and beyond.


  • This role provides an opportunity to join the small and enthusiastic UK team developing equipment and sub-systems for multiple space missions.
  • The successful candidate will be a Product Assurance Engineer with experience (10yrs+), ideally within the space industry.


  • Lead PA and QA team
  • Own the MDA QMS (Quality Management System)
  • Supporting projectsDeveloping product assurance plans for new projects
  • Check new customer contracts for quality requirements, track and implement changes.
  • Flow down the contract specific quality requirements (internally to projects and also suppliers & sub-contractors).
  • Ensure manufacturing and testing gate reviews are planned and implemented.
  • Performing MIPs and KIPs
  • Control the non-conformance process
  • Business ImprovementEnforce company processes
  • Promote best practises throughout the company
  • Maintenance / update of the company QMS
  • Perform audits
  • Facilitate lessons learned process & continuous improvement
  • Provide clear documentation

Required Skills:

  • University degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (preferably spaceflight)
  • Ability to apply external and internal standards and processes
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience working in manufacturing & test facilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Useful Skills:

  • Experience of working to ECSS standards
  • Experience with optical sensors
