We’re on the hunt for a Systems Engineer on our Space Systems team at our UK office in Didcot. (Harwell Campus)
MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As our presence grows overseas, so does our need for new ambitious team players to help us advance our place in the Universe and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Determining customer needs
- Provide oversight and supervision of different engineering disciplines during design, integration and test
- Analyzing performance & justifying design choices
- Producing system budgets (link budget, mass budget, etc.)
- Capturing, deriving and managing requirements
- Providing technical interface to customers and subcontractors
- Developing innovative solutions to engineering requirements
- Troubleshooting hardware and software for space missions
- Planning test campaigns
- Analyzing test data and writing test reports
- Providing clear documentation
- Delivering verified flight equipment to customer requirements
Required Skills:
- University degree in a technical discipline
- ~6 years+ experience designing, manufacturing or testing hardware ideally for space environments
- Keen to solve complex challenges in a small team
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Familiarity with formal configuration control methods
- Experience with ECSS standards
- Knowledge of qualification and acceptance environmental testing
- Test specification, plan and procedure development
Useful Skills:
- Enthusiastic about space exploration
- Experience with optical sensors
- Knowledge of Python
- Experience with DOORS/MATLAB/C or C++
- Hands on experience of Manufacturing, Assembly and Testing
