We’re on the hunt for an Intermediate Mechatronics / Systems Engineer on our Space Systems team at our UK office in Didcot(Harwell Campus)

MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As our presence grows overseas, so does our need for new ambitious team players to help us advance our place in the Universe and beyond.

 Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers developing space flight instruments and sensors
  • Working to requirement specifications to deliver space flight equipment
  • Contributing to the design of space flight systems Analysing the performance of flight systems
  • Producing control system code
  • Testing and verifying flight systems
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software for space missions
  • Providing clear documentation 

Required Skills:

  • University degree in Mechatronics, or technical subject with experience of coding and control systems engineering
  • Good understanding of the principles of designing, manufacturing and testing mechatronics, preferably for the space environment
  • Experience of C / C++ or VHDL / Verilog development
  • Ability to solve complex challenges in a small team
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication

Useful Skills:

  • Enthusiastic about space exploration
  • GIThub projects or contributions to open source projects
  • Experience of building code to interact with hardware
  • Experience of working with hardware in the loop
