DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

MDA is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Business Development for our Robotics and Space Operations business in Houston, Texas.

This position reports to the Director of New Business, and is responsible, as part of the MDA BD team, for the development of short and long term growth strategies and plans, identifying and advancing new opportunities, and managing customer relationships to achieve our current robotics business and its growth.

Specific Duties include:

  • Perform Market analysis and growth strategies and assessments as input into overall BD strategy
  • Identify new markets and high payoff pursuits based on:
    • Corporate Business objectives
    • Market analysis
    • Current and new (potential) core competencies
    • Prospective clients and partners feedback
    • SWOT Analysis
    • Business Case analysis
  • Generate Pursuit Plans for selected opportunities
  • Build market position by locating, developing, and establishing business relationships
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements
  • Track individual contributors and their accomplishments
  • Examine risks and potentials for the business opportunities
  • Identify and map MDA business strengths to customer needs
  • Discover, explore, and screen potential business opportunities
    Evaluate options and resolve internal priorities
  • Recommend opportunities for investments
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new opportunities with company strategies and operations
  • Share some responsibilities with the Public Relations Manager (PRM), such as the planning and organization of news releases, press conferences and VIP tours, MDA website and social media content, collaborative publicity with customers, general public outreach activities and participation in conferences and trade shows
  • External interactions with partners, suppliers, investors, media and government agencies and officials, participation in government forums and consultation groups, and participation on industry and academic boards
  • Understand ethical behavior and business practices, and ensures that own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization
  • Foster the elements essential to a safe and healthy workplace; promotes and support safe and healthy workplace programs and practices; ensure employees are employing safe work method

Qualifications and Experience:

Interested candidates must possess the following:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant technical and business fields
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Strong industry and market awareness
  • Experience within the Houston NASA community and highly integrated in the JSC supply chain network and surrounding areas
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills along with strong creativity
  • Good knowledge of relevant technologies, products, services and methods
  • Focuses strongly on achieving agreed upon outcomes and ensures that key objectives are met
  • Result orientated and exhibits excellent critical thinking
  • Able to work collaboratively with prospective clients and collaborators
  • Team player and demonstrated high level of integrity
  • Works well in a very dynamic environment where some of the parameters are unknown, some change regularly and much is new
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to travel as needed
